Open the Doors- Request for Proposals

In the first part of our local Open the Doors project, CORFA gave away 54 bursaries of $500 to COTR students who shared their stories with us. We are now ready for phase two! CORFA Local Open the Doors Project – Part 2 - Request for Proposals The stories from the 54 bursary recipients now need to be compiled into two formats: (i) An e-book of the pictures and stories of all the bursary recipients, to be hosted on the CORFA website and on the FPSE website (ii) A video compilation of the stories (or at least some of the stories) of the bursary recipients. The final video(s) need to be in a format appropriate to upload to websites and/or post on YouTube. CORFA proposed to contract a person or persons to undertake the project. Open the Doors Bursaries Awarded!

Over the Summer, College of the Rockies Faculty Association (CORFA) and the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators teamed up to offer up to 60 Open the Doors Bursaries to College of the Rockies students. Our local Open the Doors Campaign and similar campaigns across the province are intended to raise awareness of the rising costs of education, and to make sure that the government makes education a priority in British Columbia (See www.openthedoors.ca).  Applicants wrote a brief essay to highlight some of the challenges they face in achieving an education. Fifty-two very grateful students received $500 each. Some of the recipients gathered on Tuesday, September 27th to receive their cheques and pose for a picture. The CORFA Liaison provides a vital link between the CORFA Executive and the general membership of CORFA.  This position is either a 20% release from assigned faculty work, or a top up of 20%.
